| Do you know anyone who's got the
'Bottle' and perhaps the audacity to take on the might of the major record companies
controlled by millions of pounds and established megastars? 'Gentleman Jack' was born to be a fighter!
Born
in a small town on the Czech/German border where his father was a Customs Officer. Having
to run before advancing German armies - this freedom was short-lived. In 1939 the
whole of Czechoslovakia (now Czech Republic) was invaded.
His childhood was spent in occupied Prague where young men
grew up very quickly in order to survive. He became a Gun-Runner for the Partisans
in the 1945 Prague uprising at the age of 12, he was awarded the Russian Citation for
Bravery under fire at 13.

It is ironic that he came to England to escape from the system that honored him. In
his own words "It seems I spent my whole life escaping from some thing".
In fact many of the songs recorded, he first heard on London war-time radio - listening to
which was punishable by death.
His musical venture started well into the autumn of his
life as he cultivated a unique style of interpretation of well known songs. His
voice has been described as a mixture of "Velvet Fog" and tormented soul.
